As part of our corporate social responsibility campaign, Merseyway Shopping Centre is dedicated to helping our shoppers get green. Here’s some pointers on how you can stay green while you shop!
- Visit Merseyway by public transport. Merseyway Shopping Centre is directly opposite Stockport Bus Station and is less than a five minute walk from Stockport Train Station so why not hop on the bus or train to Merseyway? For journey information contact GMPTE on 0161 228 7811.
Carrier bags do not biodegrade in landfill sites so try to cut down your carrier bag usage or take advantage of some of our stores ‘bags for life’.

We love the cute new Body Shop Bag of Passion; an everlasting bag made from 100% cotton with style and conscience!
Price: £3.00 (and £1.20 from the sale of each bag goes back to their community trade supplier) |
- Many of our stores re-use and recycle their coathangers; so help our stores stay green and say ‘no’ to taking away any unwanted coathangers.
- Did you know, the Carphone Warehouse recycle all mobile phones handed in store? Plus, they donate £10 to the CPW Charity Partnership for every phone donated. Don’t forget to remove your SIM card before handing it in!
- Why not hand back your old catalogues to our Argos store? They will recycle all old copies handed back.
- As well as repairing your watches, I Kandi at Merseyway can recycle your old watch batteries.
The Body Shop is celebrating their 20 th Anniversary of working with Community Trade this year so if you’re looking for fair trade skin care, make up and fragrance, why not pop in store?

- Merseyway Shopping Centre recycles 100% of plastics and cardboard produced by its stores. In 2006 alone, we recycled around 260 tonnes of cardboard and 1.2 tonnes of plastic.
- All unused copies of our magazine ‘Zine’ and other publications are always recycled.
- We ensure any literature produced for the shopping centre holds the recycling symbol.
And, to try and cut down the effects of aviation on the environment; we make every effort to ensure any holidays won in Merseyway competitions are based in the UK. |
