News Merseyway wins loo of the year awards
Merseyway Shopping Centre has a won five stars accreditation, the highest star rating, in the 2006 Loo of the Year Awards. Merseyway Cleaning Supervisors Craig Aldred and Sue Bailey travelled to Birmingham on Friday 8 December to pick up the award promoted by the British Toilet Association. Nationally, Merseyway was under stiff competition with 1106 entries to the awards from other shopping centres, tourist attractions, hotels, airports, train stations etc.
The busiest toilets in Stockport, Merseyway’s public toilets are provided by the centre’s landlord (Stockport Holdings Ltd) and retailers. The loos are open seven days a week and over 11 million visitors use the facilities a year, using over 5,000 loo rolls! A key to the toilets success is that they are staffed by both male and female attendants during all the retail hours of the shopping centre and are kept spotlessly clean.
Richard Paxton, centre director, commented:
“This is a great reward for the team’s hard work and dedication, throughout long hours and all weathers. All of the shopping centre’s cleaning staff should have great pride in the knowledge that they provide a terrific welcome to not only for the shopping centre, but to the town as a whole.” |
