An opticians in Stockport has donated a total of over £1,200 to two charities as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting healthcare organisations.
Specsavers in Merseyway shopping centre has given £600 apiece to Walthew House and The Christie Charity. Walthew House provides practical and emotional support to people across Stockport with vision and hearing problems. It was founded in 1882 and is named after its founder John Walthew, a former Mayor of Stockport.
The Christie Charity provides enhanced services to cancer patients over and above what the NHS funds, including research, care and treatment, education and extra patient services. Deborah Morley, store director at Specsavers Stockport, said: ‘As a store, we’re committed to doing our bit to support healthcare organisations on both a local and national level.
‘These causes are close to the hearts of everyone who works in the store and we’re delighted to be able to do anything we can to support them.’
